As parents of babies born with Downs syndrome, we all remember those early days after birth and for some of us the great need to find information on what the future might hold for our children.
The first Looking Book was created with that need in mind by parent members of Cornwall Down’s Syndrome Support Group who wanted to reach out to other parents of newborns with Down’s syndrome to share positive and uplifting photos of their unexpectedly wonderful journey of everyday life with their children.
This is a reworking of the original Looking Up book and, we are happy to say, now features new family stories; many of whom were the recipients of the original book shortly after they were first told of their child’s condition.
All new families face challenges at times but, in our books, we do not focus on the medical facts and statistics of Down’s syndrome but rather we let our family’s own photographs of life with their extraordinary children speak for themselves.
Each Looking Up book purchase funds a new parent gift pack for those starting their own adventure with their new baby with Down’s syndrome.
