In recent weeks there has been much controversy in the media around the subject of NIPT, The RCOG’s article on the cost of a care for people with DS and of course the resultant fallout from Sally Phillips’ documentary ‘A World Without Down’s Syndrome’.

CDSSG would like to formally state that as parents of children and young people with Down’s Syndrome we are all appalled at the negative press and are registering our disgust by supporting the work of many campaigns that demand a positive perspective for our loved ones.

As Chair and Vice Chair Sandy Lawrence and Angie Emrys-Jones are travelling to The Department of Health on Tuesday 11th October to support the presentation of a letter reflecting the wider Down’s syndrome community’s concerns to Jeremy Hunt, Secretary of State for Health.

Should you wish to sign the open letter yourself, here is the link to do so:

This event is hosted by ‘Don’t Screen Us Out’ and is open to anyone who wishes to attend, for more details please go to:

The CDSSG Committee would like to remind families that, as ever, we are a group that supports one another wherever we are on our Down’s syndrome journey by sharing friendship, information and support our membership.

This is at the heart of our core values and will never change.
